Competing against 27 top county U18 teams from up and down the country, including from Ireland and the Isle of Man, our young Lancashire team performed with great spirit and fortitude.
“I could not be prouder of the players,” said Graham. “Many of them are significantly under the age of 18 so will be able to play in this excellent tournament for years to come. They had brilliant wins over Northumberland, Cumbria, Worcestershire, Norfolk and Suffolk, going from strength to strength in their matches; more importantly, loving every minute.”
The ICT tournament is a fantastic stepping stone for junior county players wanting to step up to the senior county teams. Taking place over 4 days during the Easter holidays it is a significant commitment for both the players, their parents and, of course, the junior team managers: Graham and Joanne Holt and Yvonne Lowe.
The team of Om, Dylan, Sidhard, Anirudh, Jack, Monica, Maisie, Ananya, Sophie and Chloe had an amazing time, really appreciating the input from their supporters and managers during the matches and in the pre- and post-match sessions.
“The talent in this young Lancashire team is simply amazing,” said one supporter. “At times I was emotionally drained to see the effort and commitment from each and every one of them. Role models for our future Lancashire senior teams, it has been a remarkable week of superb badminton.”
